ISACA San Diego Presenter Information
On behalf of the ISACA San Diego chapter and its leadership board, we thank you for your valuable time and willingness to present to the chapter. Please see below for overall presentation information, to help make the overall experience as successful for everyone as possible. At any time, please feel free to reach out with any questions and/or ideas on how we can improve the process. We look forward to working with you!
OVERVIEW / GENERAL INFORMATION
Our chapter hosts several types of speaking opportunities: Recurring Monthly Meetings, Special Education Workshops/Presentations, and Community Events (summits, collaborative chapter events, social mixers, and more).
Recurring Monthly Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month, 12:00 – 1:15 pm PST. Workshops and special presentations typically run 2-4 hours. The specifics of your event will be shared outside of this document.
Events can be hosted in-person, online via the chapter's Zoom account, or hybrid, depending on the format.
In-person events are typically hosted onsite at XiFin, Inc..
Events are open to the general public
We encourage the presenter to promote the event, and invite those they would like to attend
Normal event routine is:
5 minutes of chapter introductions and housekeeping items
Moderator introduces the presenter and topic
Chapter representatives serve as host, monitor the chat/Q&A, feed questions/comments as they come up, and run with the presentation
Presentation lasts approximately 45 minutes, with 10-15 minutes saved at the end for Q&A. If helpful, we can extend our time in the room for additional conversation
With presenter consent, we archive the presentation on the chapter's YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxlJlnxTEjmueJH-Gb_WeiQ
Attendees receive 1 CPE towards their certifications
AUDIENCE
ISACA is a mixture of student and professional auditors (IT, Cybersecurity, Risk Management, etc.), ranging from entry-level to senior executives.
The ISACA San Diego Chapter has approximately 700+ members
We promote on the ISACA San Diego website, ISACA San Diego LinkedIn page, the chapter newsletter, chapter email blast(s), and on the ISACA national website.
TOPIC IDEA & THEME
Overall, presentations are designed to be educational in nature, as a value-add to our members and the community at large
With a diverse mix of attendees, it’s better to keep presentations at a top level of the topic, with the ability to go into more detail if questions arise
Using current events as examples is a good way to help the audience relate and understand key points
We value thought leadership, practical insights, and interactive discussions. Our goal is information sharing, and we ask that presentations avoid any type of sales pitch to our members.
PRESENTATION GUIDELINES
To help ensure a great experience for our audience, we ask presenters to follow these formatting guidelines:
Use a font size no smaller than 20pt on all slides, to ensure readability for both in-person and online attendees.
Plan for no more than 1 slide per 1.5 minutes of presentation time, to keep pacing comfortable and avoid overwhelming the audience.
Keep slides visual and concise. Detailed explanations are best delivered verbally, with slides serving as a guide rather than a script.
COMPENSATION
As a non-profit organization, we generally do not provide financial compensation to speakers or workshop facilitators. As a thriving community of 700+ members, participating is a great opportunity to build connections and increase brand awareness by directly providing value to our membership during your engagement. We are always supportive of other, similarly aligned organizations, and happy to cross-collaborate.
