San Diego Event In-Person and Online: The Infrastructure Behind the Intelligence: OT Security's Moment Has Arrived

  • XiFin, Inc. 12225 El Camino Real San Diego, CA, 92130 United States (map)

Forget everything you've heard about AI security. The story everyone's missing isn't a rogue model it's that every breakthrough we're chasing runs on electricity. Every data center, every GPU cluster, every model running inference at scale depends on grids, pipelines, substations, turbines, and water systems all powered by operational technology. The AI era isn't just a software story. It's an energy and infrastructure story, and that's exactly why it's the most exciting place to be in security right now.

Our community took shape around 2015, after BlackEnergy hit Ukraine's grid. Ten years later, we're more connected and more capable than ever and the opportunity to defend what powers modern life has never been greater.

I've spent two decades in this world, defending the grid and building the tools to secure it. I'm here to show why OT security is different, why it matters, and why now is the moment to join us.

SPEAKER: Brian Proctor, Co-Founder and CEO at Frenos

Brian built his expertise over 13+ years as an ICS/OT cybersecurity engineer and architect at two California Investor Owned Utilities serving San Diego and Los Angeles. During this time, he developed and implemented cybersecurity strategies for natural gas and electric infrastructure networks that serve millions of customers.

Following this experience, Brian became the 4th employee at SecurityMatters, an OT security monitoring company later acquired by Forescout Technologies. There, he successfully expanded adoption among Fortune 500 companies across Oil and Gas, Electric Utilities, Manufacturing, Automotive, and Pharmaceutical sectors.

As co-founder and CEO of Frenos, Brian now leads a company that helps critical infrastructure operators continuously assess their operational technology environments through use of digital twins and AI, prioritize risk-reducing measures, and defend against emerging cyber threats.

Brian maintains technical certifications including GICSP, CISSP, and CRISC. His innovative work includes co-inventing a GPS anti-spoofing technology that earned recognition as one of R&D Magazine's Top 100 awards in 2016.
