Topic: Cybersecurity’s & Privacy’s Critical Dependency on Information Governance
Description: Companies have struggled for years in improving their data protection capabilities by investing in newer technologies related to access, DLP and insider threat controls that promise greater protections and risk reductions. However, until data is inventoried, analyzed and classified, critical data will remain at risk and breaches will continue to happen resulting in damaging the corporate brand.
Additionally, retaining large amounts of useless data that no longer has business value incurs avoidable costs in terms of enterprise storage- typically in the $Ms for a F500 company. By disposing of junk data on an ongoing basis not only substantially reduces costs but also reduces risk and improves compliance.
This talk will provide a brief overview of how companies can quickly establish an enterprise view of their data and then use ML to classify each data asset to determine if it should be better protected or if it should be disposed of.
