I Graduate Next Month - What's Next?
Meet Maya Morales and Chaitanya Patel. Each is a Cybersecurity student graduating next month. Over the past 2+ years, the chapter has sponsored their memberships, supported as much as possible, and have excitedly watched them grow into the professionals they are about to become.
Join us as chapter president, Dave Tuckman, sits down with Maya and Chaitanya to discuss their journey, experience in school, experience with the chapter, and overall thoughts on next steps. The conversation is open to anyone attending with questions and/or advice for Maya, Chaitanya, as well as others in a similar state of transition.
Maya Morales - Graduate Student at the University of San Diego
Maya Morales reflects the diverse influences of both northern and southern California, shaped by her parents' roots in South and Central America. She came to San Diego during middle school, where her longing for rain in Northern California inspired her to pursue a B.A. in Environmental Science and Policy at Smith College in Massachusetts. After experiencing the full spectrum of four seasons, Maya returned to San Diego to delve into a M.S. in Cyber Security Engineering.
In the morning, you'll find Maya running on the beach or hiking in the mountains, while her evenings are often spent at Latin dance socials after class. Driven by a passion for helping others, Maya frequently volunteers at farmers' markets and various organizations. Her sharp eye for detail and relentless pursuit of knowledge naturally attracted her to cybersecurity.
Maya is energized by the dynamic nature of cybersecurity and its inherent mission to protect others. With boundless enthusiasm for learning and a dedication to making a positive impact, she eagerly anticipates the launch of her career in this evolving field.

Chaitanya Patel - Master of Science Cybersecurity Management @ SDSU Fowler College of Business
Chaitanya Patel, originally from India, now immersed in the cybersecurity field at San Diego State University. Equipped with a Master's in Cybersecurity Management and a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, is driven to contribute to enhancing digital security. His academic and practical journey is marked by a constant drive to learn and an eagerness to tackle challenges within the cybersecurity domain.
